Consecutive interpreting

In consecutive interpretation (verbal translation), the interpretation is given after the speaker has finished talking.

The interpreter sits near the speaker, listens to the speaker’s speech and then interprets it into the relevant language using previously prepared materials (the speech text, event agenda, main points of the conference etc.) If necessary, notes may be taken during the speaker’s performance. This interpretation technique is most commonly used during certain types of meetings, such as negotiations, business lunches, meetings with a notary, in banks etc.
